Privately.

They were in full uniform, armed with automatic rifles and marked SARS van. The full monty.

From this description it is clear that they were corrupt cops. In theory you have rights however in practice you are in the RSA and could still end up in a holding cell waiting for someone to bail you out.

I would think carefully about shouting the odds and standing on my "rights". I believe Its001 handled it well. I will rather pay R2k than end up being the bitch for a couple of heavies in a holding cell.

Guys let's be honest here. If you havent been in that situation before, you will never understand. Talking from experience I know what went through his mind. Firstly unfortunately 90% or more of the station level officers are corrupt. They have nothing better to do than domestic violence calls. So they opt for taking bribes and abuse of power. Let me tell you the cops know of many venues but only act on complaints. It's the corrupt ones that wanna solicit brides for shyt. So let's just say I asked this guy many years ago what hes doing there as he got caught busy with a MAMA. He said it's his girlfriend. I just wanted the truth and he could leave but lying and found his ring in his sticky pocket. You could still see the mark on his left finger. 25 missed calls from "sexy wife". He got so arrogant and told me shyt. That I decided to call "sexy wife" to fetch him. Because of corruption, changed my day job

At least at my venue you can rest assure that you will be safe coming in and going out. No problem.....

Yeah, you even have your address details on your website and Google maps, a cop would never be able to wait outside over on the spot on google places for the sweating men to drive out, and try and illicit a bribe, that could never happen :)

In essence you just wanted him to admit/confess to a crime and have no way out after that. He didn't know that you were gonna let him go if he told the truth.

His most viable options where
1. Lie and say what he did
2. Tell the truth to what could be a clean cop and go to jail for the crime
3. Tell the truth to a dirty cop who then illicits a hefty fine with possible future blackmail.

I would still take option 1. What you proposed of letting him go if he told the truth as sweet as that sounds is not a logical or expected outcome.

Swak thing you did to the owe. That 25 misscalls was already hard to explain him missing for an hour, now he must be divorced and lost his kids and home with a cop saying he was fucking a wg in that time.

A lot of people are missing the point. Someone on the inside (houses, apartments etc.)is working with the fake ones on the outside. Same as people getting robbed coming from the bank.
So make sure where you go and who you book.
Like for instance the Edenvale situation. Name and shame them. That way they are out of the industry and the rest of Edenvale is not suspect anymore

Punters should prepare for an increase in these risks as the economy trends down. Warning each other certainly helps. Not sure that naming the specific venue will put the cops out of business, since they will just cultivate another contact at the venue down the road.

N4P...work is work boet. I think the point here is that we all just need to be more aware of our surroundings all the time. Know your rights but dont argue and show these guys you know better. It could be the legit team that doesn't need your lip or those fckers wanting to take you for a bribe.

It is not illegal to get a sensual massage.
It is their duty to prove that you did more
than that. Good luck with that.

To assist each other, why not name and shame. Punters will know to stay away from those venues and need not to pay any bribes
