Who determines what is "fake news" ?

The mainstream media use these labels a lot to delegitimize perfectly legitimate discourse.

Depends on what it is about.

If it's about something fact based. I.e the moon is made of cheese. Then reality is what determines if it's fake.

If it's not then there is no final arbitrator.

There are plenty of examples of fake news I could post here. But this is not the place.

'Fake news' should be a label for 'news' without reliable, accountably sources to backup claims. But sources and accountability are rare things in this day and age.

Joseph Goebbels, Hitler's minister for propaganda was famous for saying that if you tell a lie enough times people will believe it, you don't need evidence. And that is something we see a great deal of. Lots of big claims with little to no facts to back it up.
