So looking at Europe, we have the UK, Spain and many other countries now exploding with a second wave of new COVID cases being higher than what they were in the first wave. The deaths however are minuscule and the hospitals have plenty capacity.

Regardless, politicians all over Europe are starting to mandate strict lockdowns again, limiting movement and businesses.

Do you guys think SA is going to follow the same route? Will our cases spike up again and will we be locked down to level 4 or 5 once more? I don't think I can handle going back to another few weeks and months of that!

Im afraid its a possibility. In KZN the amount of people I'm seeing not wearing masks out in public streets is concerning.....the thing with this level 1 lockdown being announced is only because the economy was buckling and they had to take a risk choice assessment. Sacrifice our public for the country to make money. Yeah level 1 is here but the virus doesnt care about that. Its still here. Theres no vaccinne or retroviral drug yet. Its going to keep spreading infecting and breeding. It doesnt care about a numerical value of a level. Its probably pretty pleased with level 1 and the large amount of people interacting with each other. Better chance of reproducing its numbers

The cANCer will still desperately want to destroy the economy. So yes, if they have the slightest opportunity to do so they will! They have long ago figured out it is much easier to achieve equality by making everyone poor, than to uplift the poor.

A much more sensible approach will (and would have been) to lock in the vulnerable. Level 5 lockdown if you have certain co-morbidities, or are 60 years or older. Let everyone else continue as usual.

But giving 20m people grants and have them stay at home, is a sure way to get their votes. The majority paying for the party, are probably not voting ANC in any case. And even if the were, you can easily afford to loose that maybe 1m votes, when you win so many votes with dishing out grants..

From Level 1 to Level 5 because Europe is experiencing a "2nd wave" ? Not going to happen.
We going into summer, they going into winter, so we ok.

We simply can't afford to have a complete lockdown again! It's as straight forward as that

Possible but considering the position of the economy the government may be forced to compromise over the wellbeing of the population. If a second wave does occur and the number of infections reach the same threshold as during the lockdown then the government may consider it.

I agree with Johnny (well Johnny English in this case) - Covid thrives in cold and due to us going into our warmer seasons we could expect it to be an important factor in dampening the spread of covid.

Have to agree with Johnny English on this .... We are hitting summer and all those super rich westerners and easterners are going to be flocking to our shores (finally use that beach house that they bought cos it would be cool to say they love Africa as well) ... might be a good thing for our people and our economy ... lets just hope they come here healthy.
