I am desperately looking for some advice from a *Urologist*.
I have a family friend without medical aid, and we have been doing what we can but the doctors and specialists treating him at Wits haven't been helpful with regards to helping us with home care.

The patient is 70+ with final stages of Renal Failure and is Diabetic 1.

We have a list of things he is not allowed (see below) but we have no idea what we can actually give him that is still nutritious and filling. The family does not want to put him on a feeding tube and is still processing that he needs hospice care. In the meantime, I have no idea what to do.

*as mentioned above.
-low in protein
-no sugar
-no sodium
-no phosphorus
-no magnesium
-no potassium

Try a dietician rather than a urologist. Lots of dieticians practice includes diabetics and renal failure patients.

Thank you for the advice, maybe we are just looking at all the wrong dieticians but no one has been helpful when it comes to meal replacements/shakes or recipes we can use.

I should have noted that the patient can not eat solids due to the dry mouth effect he has. He's struggling to drink water.

This is so sad, God will send healing hands. Prayers to you and family

Contact NephroCare. They would be able to assist with general information and also refer you to a suitable Nephrologist.
