I have just joined as a gold member and posted a topic, but it's not showing up. Any reason for this?

Being a new member your posts are and will be moderated until such time esa deems them to be constructive and positive.

Yes, any new member will have his/her posts checked my a mod before they are published. Post more, it'll go away after a certain number, then they'll display immediately.
