Gmorning...a question to the WG I travel several times a year in different counties. Point is Would you accept dollars that would equate to your Rand amount?

Or is it a strict policy on Zar rands only?

I have accepted foreign currency a few times before and while it is a bit more of a mission to exchange it, I don't mind. I generally just ask for a slightly larger amount to compensate for any fees that get taken during the exchange and for the inconvenience.

Have accepted euros and dollars a few times, can definitely work in the girls favor.

Unless you want to "save" hard currency for a coming day when the Rand might be worthless (think Zim), i doubt it makes sense for a WG to take foreign currency, due to the huge cost of converting back to Rand. Dont underestimate this....They will typically offer you at least 5-10% less than the "spot rate" and then layer transaction cost on top...If this is a small amount you are trading, it could be a substantial percentage.
