The Department of Health has published the new regulations to the National Health Act.
Briefly (my CAPITALS):
1. A person who has tested positive for Covid or has been in contact with someone who has Covid or is SUSPECTED of having Covid, should be compelled to undergo ANY testing, treatment, to be taken to a QUARANTINE or ISOLATION SITE.
2. Besides a medical practitioner, a person directed by a medical practitioner, a nurse and ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, is permitted to INSTRUCT a person to get a Covid test, QUARANTINE or ISOLATE, and if a person refuces to comply, a Court order will b e sought to FORCE them to do so.
3. Symptomatic and ASYMPTOMATIC people are require to SELF-ISOLATE, for a yet to be determined time, BEFORE THEY CAN REJOIN SOCIETY..
4. QUARANTINE FACILITIES will be ALLOCATED, where people who have been IN CONTACT with people with COVID and people SUSPECTED of having COVID, will be HELD.
5. A person can ONLY SELF-QUARANTINE or SELF-ISOLATE if they have a friend or family member who can bring them supplies if they can't make use of online shopping, have access to internet or phone to report symptons, have access to a private doctor and have a reachable contact number.
6. The place where this self-quarantine or self-isolation can take place must be a bedroom with its own bathroom and toilet or must not be shared with people not quarantining. Food must be served in disposable utensils or thoroughly washed and must have a thermometer to check their temperature.
7. A CONTACT TRACING DATABASE will be FORMED, which will contain PERSONAL and MEDICAL INFORMATION of ANYONE who has been in contact with a person who has tested positive for Covid. ALL positive test results must be SUBMITTED to the MINISTER of HEALTH, along with PERSONAL INFORMATION of the patient.
8. Masks to be worn in indoor areas, public premises and on public transportation.
10. Attendance at funeral limited to 100 persons.
11. Night vigils and after-funeral events remain restricted.
12. People entering or leaving SA must produce a vaccination certificate or negative covid test, less than 72 hours old. Screening will be conducted at point of entry, and people required to undergo testing and mandatory quarantine/isolation if test positive.
13. 50% occupancy for indoor and outdoor gatherings, where a vaccination certificate must be produced, 1 metre social distancing and masks for indoors. If no vaccination certificate produced, there must be no more than 1000 people indoors and 2000 people outdoors.
14. Government Departments may ADVISE EACH OTHER on the IMPLEMENTATION of a CURFEW, SPORT ACTIVITIES, ECONOMIC OPERATIONS, LOCKDOWNS, public transportation, RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL PRACTICES, and the SALE OF ALCOHOL.
FAILURE to COMPLY could mean a FINE or up to 10 YEARS IMPRISONMENT.
