Thanks to those before us, I can live loudly and proudly. But there is still so much work to do.
While we are working on lowering the number of hate crimes and deaths in our country; there is still a large number of abuse victims within the lgbtq+ community that go unaccounted for.
Homosexuality is still a crime in 38 African countries alone and the wave of terror amongst our community causes many to not only live in fear, turn to drugs, drop out of school, self harm but to also find solace in suicide. The severity of ostracicization and harm causes many to turn to drastic measures, so that they can escape their reality.
The only way to end this is to live as loudly proudly and openly as possible, while having allies who support our community and are willing to not only stand by us, but to help fight the fight through love and acceptance <3
