Has the cost of fuel limited you to the distance that you are willing to drive for a punt?

If one cannot afford fuel, then one should just stay home. I see a lot of guys are talking saying they won't mind paying a lady 2k a pop, but then they bitch and moan about 5 l of juice .... I don't know, doesn't make sense to me. It's like buying a Porsche and complaining about the price of the juice .....

You are 100% correct, some people just like talking rubbish because they're bored. I charge premium rates, and my business hasn't suffered because of the petrol price. LOL

I would imagine those that can afford premium rates would have more room to adjust to economic changes.

I am happy that the economic changes haven't impacted your business. It is a bit insensitive to say others who may not have the same buffers to adjust to economic changes as talking "rubbish."

Not so much as punting is a rare phenomenon in my world. I imagine for those that do it regularly, I.e. Weekly, would have fuel as a consideration. As someone who spends a lot of time on the road, I have first hand knowledge of significant impact the fuel hikes have had.

It's not insensitive, the petrol price doesn't make that much of a difference. If you can afford to punt at all, then an extra extra R 50/ R 100 is nothing. This 'game' is not an essential, so if you don't have money, why are you here?

I think you are looking at it through a limited lens... Over time, the direct contribution of petrol inflation to headline inflation has not only increased, but has also exceeded its weight in the consumer price index. In addition, the petrol prices have an important bearing on the prices of other (non-petrol) commodities in the economy.

So the impact may not be as simply limiting it to the extra R50/R100 you mentioned. So someone who had set aside R1000 a month for his "non essential" punt, may not have it anymore based on the ripple effect of the petrol hikes in his/her life.

But I accept and respect your opinion on the topic as being true in your world view. I was just sharing mine (which I do not postulate to be the correct one either).

unless you happen to be incredibly rich , you have to very careful right now , money in the bank is very risky , even some financial advisors have said it is best to buy stuff you use often that don't perish fast and store it , because we are at the beginning of hyper inflation and the next few weeks are going to get scary, fuel will be at R50 a liter before December and that will affect the prices of everything including food

Once you add up the cost of the booking, wear and tear on your car and the cost of your time, the petrol cost should be the least of your worries.

I honestly think time plays a bigger role than fuel prices, very few have the luxury of time to drive an hour to and from a punt.

Therefore most men punt on way to/from work or on way to/from an out office meeting or in lunch breaks... 8 out of 10 times selecting a lady they like that are on route or in close proximity.

Punting is viewed as a luxury a hobbie, a self spoil.. but sometimes its more than that for some it is an activity that keeps them sane and feeling good when all the other pressures of day to day life keeps creeping in on them.

And for that reason, men will find away to justify the time and fuel cost to punt.
