If "freeloading" was such a problem, to the point you want to ban somebody, which is a fairly drastic action, why not edit the offending post and remove the promotional content you object to? It seems like this "freeloading" ban hammer gets swung by reflex or any time some busybody says "uhoh you gonna get banned".
