You guys know that I am not only passionate about touch, but passionate about hair and about Grooming.

So, my hair was becoming long and unmanageable again... so I figured winter is over, my next shoot is around the corner and with the spirit of change, let's go get a trim.

Being new to the area, I had to try yet another new barber.

Well, spoken gent escorts me to the seat and we begin making small talk.

I'm pressed for time, have a lot of errands to run, need to try get in my work as well. Bookings have all been rescheduled, so I figured an hour of my morning is good for a little much needed me time.

I recently did a barber course, having cut my own hair and other's for just over 10years, I have a critical eye and naturally struggle with attention to detail.

Why do I go get my hair cut though? The same reason you get a sensual massage. Sometimes we just want to feel pampered and need someone else's touch (in this case not sensual at all).

Small talk becomes a deep philosophical talk about well pretty much everything. The big bang, Ukraine, covid, energy, me being a Masseuse (obviously not disclosing when I do sensual) and how touch is an ancient medicine of sorts.

Guys, I shit you NOT, I am a big talker and I got a run for my money! I listened and must have got about just a couple of sentences in within a 2 hour period (much longer than my 20min trim).

I hardly got a word in between my, "yeah, mmm, uh-huh, hmm, ja."

At first this caused a little Impatience to stir. But then I internalized how few people actually want to be real and have a safe space to get deep and to share their insights.

I discovered that my barber writes, has a well of knowledge, is incredibly deep and then what struck me, is when he said:
"Sorry, I have no friends and you can't have these conversations with people."

Imagine how as a society, we have been trained to say SORRY FOR HAVING INSIGHT, PASSION AND BEING ABLE TO BE DEEP AND CONNECT WITH OTHERS BEYOND THE SURFACE.

Imagine, how we have to isolate ourselves because we are only able to meet others as deeply as we meet ourselves.

At the end of my cut, I realized what a gift it is to listen and to really listen. To hold space for others to just speak and to be present.

Guess what, he gifted me some products and I did not expect that at all. I told him not to worry about that and he insisted.

Today I AM GRATEFUL... I am grateful for this encounter.

Yes, but would you go back. You went for an hour booking ended up being a 2 hour talkathon.

Kind of him to give you product. But you must have felt drained after.

Here you gave someone the gift of your time, that's worth more than money.

These are special moments. Most people cannot engage in meaningful conversation. They can talk about what the latest movies are latest fashion, where is the best restaurant for a steak. Very few can tell you what wearing their favourite red dress does for their psyche. Why they appreciate jazz over opera. How they cope when their mood is dark. What makes them happy. How they feel about things that matter to them. I need such a barber. My one can barely string together an English sentence.

@Gabby, I would go back but I am more concerned about him booking a normal standard Swedish massage by me lol. I made a potential friend and a client.

As for my hair... that's another story. I'm pedantic. But I'd politely make a suggestion or two next time. This was a trial. He passed not because of skill, but because I believe a good and true sales person sells themselves first. Tired and drained yes, but happy to encounter more people with depth and authenticity. Also happy to offer an ear.

Too few of us actually listen, we heat people talking, but we don't listen and that includes our most loved ones.

@MrMagicHands I must say I love that you've been more interactive with my posts as of late. You sound lovely and thank you for seeing that!

@Nadia please come visit me one of these good days, then we cam go hang out with the barber lol! The funny thing is that I can actually see this happening!
