My view on suicide is that it's a persons right to take their own life unless they have dependents who will suffer because of it.

I agree. But with humans often doing things on impulse, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. There might just be light.

It is, but then it's usually a private affair with an inevitable result.

Similarly is it the right of a concerned individual to interject, comment or "intervene" should they be so moved, in the instance where the "threat" is leveled in the public space, thereby inviting participation. Regardless of wether it is for sympathy, manipulation or a sincere, possibly even last ditch attempt at seeking a temporary reprieve from a final solution.

Suicide is something that requires guts but at the same time it is an action not recognizing those around you. People you may be dependent on you whether financial, family or numerous other reasons. Even you employer will loose a well trained person. Employees will loose their jobs. The girls on ESA will also miss out. Have you ever considered the impact on a person that find such a body? Twenty years ago I discovered someone who hanged himself, I will never forget it.
