I just had a conversation with a regular SP as my wife is driving me nuts today. I ended up telling her the girls in the escort profession must consider themselves marital therapists as my marriage would have long collapsed if I didn't have SPs to relieve my stress.

Think of a car engine with an oil leak.

Instead of fixing the oil leak properly, or replacing the vehicle because it simply isn't suited to you, your style of driving or the mileage you expect from the vehicle, you're choosing to pay a lovely and eager mechanic to slap some pink bubblegum and fluffy bunny handcuffs onto the leak, knowing full well that you will have to repeat the process indefinitely because you choose not to fix the oil leak or replace the vehicle.

I'm not saying you're wrong to enjoy your time with the mechanic but fundamentally you know you need to replace the car, or really fix the oil leak.

There was a thread recently by a guy who thought one of his regular WGs was his psychotherapist, he went out with her for some drinks assuming they were friends and not realising that the WG considered it to be an outbooking ( she did not explicitly state that it was an outbooking) she ended up also inviting some other bloke and this must have hurt the poor punters feelings and he left. He later tried to book the same WG for an all-nighter but she demanded the money upfront and then stood him up. Just a reminder to remember that this is business, it is a transaction.

Dangerous territory my dear. Remember there are SPs that are blackmailing clients with personal information. Also SPs wont always have your interests at heart, some do but remember this is work and a job.

Exactly! Remember a rented Maserati from Avis cannot replace (in your case...give you advice to) a fully paid classic.

SP's are honest enough to take your money up front and then listen to your problems.
Wives on the other hand (and I've had a few) really aren't interested in your problems but do know how to empty your pockets LOL
