The "Vids that turn you on" thread got me thinking about our local porn industry - why most of the local content is hard to find and why the industry itself seems to be non-existent.

I'm no fan of porn myself but I do feel for the multiracial porn stars like Belle. I wish people would get over themselves already.

Just looking at most of the links in the thread I referred to above, it's clear that there's a demand from the locals. I have not looked at all the links, but I'm 99.9% sure that its content from the United States. Maybe a clip or three from other areas/countries.

I wonder if local content will ever take flight - and by take flight I mean distributed locally and internationally without the actors being too concerned about being judged.

The reason why the porn industry is dead in Sa is simply because of legislation.Porn produced in Sa can't be distributed on the Internet and can only be distributed by authorised adult shops which pretty much makes it impossible to make a profit.However there is light at the end of the tunnel,the films and publications act is being updated to incorporate the Internet.

Interesting. Thank you for shedding more light on this - I was not aware that the law prohibited distribution on the internet.

I'm just curious how they would monitor this to ensure compliance and whether this prohibition applies to porn sites overseas. There's a local film (Mapona) that did the rounds on the internet. The entire movie was uploaded on a popular porn site (either pornhub or Tube 8 - can't recall).

I know that the law is quite technical - hopefully the amendments will help.
