I don't get it either. Could be guys being shy wanting to get a conversation going before asking rates etc., but seems counter productive.

Funny I have the same issues with WG. I send them a very complimentary message and then ask for specific questions around rates and services.

I'd never open with just that. Maybe they're wrestling with the idea of seeing a sex worker and sort of testing the waters.
Likewise, I notice some wg's respond with a rate but ignore any other questions in your opening message (time, location etc). And then sometimes just don't respond again after that.
