A while back i was visiting a massage parlour in Edenvale and was finishing up on a wonderful session with a true thai firecracker when there was a dreaded knock on the door by the Johannesburg police department.
I played it cool. After all it was only a happy ending massage and i was not caught in the "act".
But after about 8 fully armed cops started turning the house upside down they came threw with loads of condoms (a sure sign of prostitution) and bags of Ecstasy and cocaine (belonging to the ladies) i knew i was in shit.
Long story short it cost me around 14k to get "let go".
Thats not including the 1k i had spent on the session.
Not to mention the PTSD of the whole shit show.
Anyway what i would like to know is does this happen often?
And if so how do you recommend avoiding this?
Im planning a trip to JHB soon and im still traumatised.
Any advice will be appreciated.

One of the reasons I avoid venues in general.

Look this must be shit scary...And not sure i would be able to practice what i preach...LoL

But you should have paid nothing. They had nothing on you. Even if the caught you with your penis in her vagina, they still had nothing that would stand in a court of law. They needed to catch you paying money for sex. Without that, they have nothing.
If the drugs were not on you, i cannot see how they successfully prosecute you.
Yes, they can make it very unpleasant for you. Maybe visiting you at home or at work to ask questions, take statements etc. And that we want to avoid. But legally speaking, i dont think they had any leg to stand on.

Would be good if some legal people can confirm if this is right.

Vrik is very right.. as a non resident of the property they had absolutely nothing on you, and nothing they threatened you with would have even led to the point where a charge could be laid against you.

That said that would have been a pretty nerve wrecking experience for anyone being caught up in a raid like that.

Not knowing what they could and could not charge you with was what they used to get you to hand over all that money.

Yes they all croocked and will absolutely try to scare the crap out of you by coming around your house or work in order to get you to hand over cash. But in the end i doubt they had any legal ground to charge you.

Guys should educate themselves..you all cant be punting and not know how to handel things like this if it happens.

Stay safe out there and be more mindfull of the enviroments you choose to play in.

My understanding is that most raids related to drugs and illegal immigration, rather than focused on prostitution.

Yes all three do sometimes go together.

I don't frequent venues, but when I did, I tried to avoid those with obvious drug and immigrant reputations - and managed to avoid any drama.

14k is a bit much, but paying them off was the best route.

They could easily make you a suspect of human and drug traficking, and even if the charges dont stick in the end, that may taint your reputation and cost you in lawyer fees.

Advice: Go to reputable venues

Its best to avoid places that attacts a lot of negative attention. Can't expect to be hanging around a bees nest and not get stung atleast once hanging around there.

Things that spell trouble..

Having people popping in and out every 5 minutes or hanging around in cars just sitting on pavements.
Girls all walking to shops in skimpy clothes or pajamas.
The place is unnecessary noisy all hours of the day and night.

It is very likely that some neighbour will call the neighbourhood watch.
That place will be watched and the neighbourhood watch will inform the cops that place looks like a drug house or brothel and before you know it they will be raided.

Many a good place that girls use to work from for years with no issues had been ruined by this kind of behaviour.

Making it harder and harder for ladies to find places that they have the benefit of other like minded women working there too(you know the safety in numbers kind of thing)

Thats why many many ladies prefer to work alone or only share space with one other lady nowadays (yes it more risky being alone but its also a lot safer in other ways)

Simple. Try a reputable independent lady working alone from a private residence.

And

Research research research (actually take time to read the reviews and forums sections- it does help I promise)
