Some unsettling news: A lady at our office in Sandton has tested positive for COVID-19. The only symptom she had was a sore throat and slight body aches. I've contacted my Doctor and he recommends I send all my staff home and self quarantine for 14 days. If any of us show symptoms we have to get tested. Guys and girls this virus hit my business hard last week financially, now its hit on a personal level too. It's a real thing guys, please please don't be stupid and not protect yourselves and your families.

I just heard now that a company busy with Section 189 had their meeting at CCMA office cancelled because the mediator had FLU like symptoms?
How the fuck can you not inform people ahead of time and these fuckers are busy going from company to company as quite a few are doing section 189 these days! These people should be dealt with for risking every person at that meeting.

If you don't show symptoms within 14 days of exposure it's unlikely you have contracted the disease. If you do show symptoms you need to get tested. It's the viruses incubation period.

Now think about this and take it to mind:

I have been exposed to the virus through being in the same office space of someone who has tested positive. I had breakfast at me local joint this morning and must have come into contact with at least 5 people. I've had 3 meetings today with about 15 people in total. They in turn have done the same..... See how it can spread so easily....

The virus can be in your body for 14 days before you experience symptoms.
In that time you can still pass it on to others without knowing.
In order to self isolate you first need to have symptoms to be able to even call your Dr to come in for a test.
If you test positive you then need to self isolate, as in, you manage the virus like the normal FLU at home as there is NO medication to treat this.
In extreme cases you may need to be in hospital if you have other complications that cannot be managed at home.
The hope is that when or if you recover then your body wouldve built up an immunity to it and if you get it again it should not be severe.

The purpose of Self Isolation is to slow the spread of the infection not necessarily to prevent it, so that when the peak hits, the number of cases the health facilities need to cope with is manageable.

We don't want an Italy or Wuhan situation where the hospitals and health providors could not cope and as a result there are more deaths. In Wuhan it was around 1% people contracting the disease died, in Italy it is running at 3%!

This struggle is hitting our ladies the most... no income, no monthly cheque... no nothing... we are screwed...

People might laugh and makes jokes about China, but those people are super efficient when it came to handing this crisis. They built a hospital in like 15 days!!! The ANC built fuck all in 20 years !!

100%. Most people will probably get it, the point of the exercise is to try and not let everybody get it at the same time. But many people don't take it seriously, saw people hugging and kissing someone they ran into at the grocery store, fucked up dof.
