Locked out of punting phone

Somehow I turned on the pin request when turning on my punting phone. I got the Sim at a Pakistani shop. I don't have the pin. Is there any way to get into my phone without calling MTN? Or do I have to get a new Sim?

Try 0000. Phoning MTN wont help. Sim isnt registered to you. If nothing works, get a new punting sim

Do a bit of googling to find out how to get the PUK number via a ussd on another phone I've done this on Vodacom before withoit ever needing to confirm details all I needed was the phone number of the phone I was looking for.
