A Brief Introduction.

Hello to all.

To make matters easier and ensure the wellness part takes center stage...I look fwd to continued queries addressing issues impacting Mind and Body Wellness.

You know when you go for a sport massage or massage therapy because your body feels a little off and the aches and pains are just too much and now a bother.

When you are asked what is it that has you looking for and, where do you feel the pull, the pain.
Then the ask to touch your toes , different stretches and a sort of prodding follows.
Question time too.

Dont get annoyed. All necessary to undertsand what is actually happening and which muscles may need attention.
Especially if there may be an injury or post operation care needed.

Then there are those times you wish and, ask for harder deeper massaging...well, going harder and deeper into the flesh may feel as if your pain is being addressed but, the truth being bruising the muscles shall happen and that is not the purpose.
The pressure and depth is dictated from person to person and requirement.

Breathing is another important aspect when going for therapy. One i address when in my session.
A therapy massage is like doing exercise. The body requires oxygen in abundance when the muscles are engaged...even in a massage. The optimum feed of oxygen. NO holding of breathe.

And as to relaxing and allowing those muscles to be lose, another one ...the tighter you pull your muscles , the greater the resistance against my hands.

Yes.
Trust must be earned . Trust that I KNOW what I am doing.

And thus, confidently to say...

You shall gauge that in the first seconds of our meet.

Hormones and pheromones. Their interaction with each other and, influence on how we might react, interact.
Its like a constant loop.
Pheromones released (external) by a person , detected by another person, leading to a hormonal ( internal) shift.

And then we have hormones ( internal) influencing the production and strength of pheromones (external) released.
Eg. High levels of stress and fatigue.
For ladies, during ovulation , menstruation cycle.

So.

How does one manage healthy levels of hormones and pheromones which seem to play a HUGE role, impacting on various levels in ones life.

And so it takes us back full circle to Mind and Body Wellness.

Simple daily routines we take foregranted.
Eating habits.
Sleeping habits.
Activity and exercising habits.
Knowing to manage stress levels.

Chemical bodily balance through addressing aspects in ones life that are definitely worth changing as opposed to pill popping .

Let's talk about the changes that can take place in YOUR life.

Lets start with an air of conviction, positivity and smile most broadly with the knowledge things shall change for the better!

What is "taking time out".

I see it as anything out of the norm of ones daily routine and habit.

And how does that impact, in a positive way, on ones mind and body wellness?

Well.

To start with (quoted)..."it shifts the brain from a state of high-frequency alertness to a lower-frequency, more relaxed state. This transition allows the brain to transition from a stressed, narrow focus to a more creative, restorative state..."

Small changes are like holidays ... therapeutic... especially when one might feel overwhelmed, exhausted resulting in reduction of performance , engagement.

These "breaks" triggering positive energy flow and less resistance to daily challenges.

What could one classify as "taking time out"?
Something as simple as a walk. An honest conversation without ones guard up. The choice of company that rests the thought process.
Understanding that saying no is not the end of the world....boundaries.

As so one could go on. Things one takes foregranted thinking "taking time out " needs to be drastic.

Actually , a drastic change to routine leads to stress and resistance and the fear of implementing any change to routine...procrastination and feeling "stuck".

From physical maintenance to mindfulness.

And so to address physical wellbeing.
With economic challenges leading to stress not only mentally, but physically too, one tends to turn a blind eye to those consistent aches and pains until it becomes unbearable and a matter of concern, needing attention.
That attention required no longer being a simple spa body massage but, the need for repetitive body therapy , a medical massage / Sport massage.

I always say...DO NOT waste your money if you are looking for healing and a solution to your longterm physical problem in one session of therapy.
In one session of body therapy we will address and identify what the problem could be. The aim is to loosen muscles thus, giving some relief and flexibility. It is NOT a fix. It is the first step to what is required next.
And in that first session other areas of self help would be identified to assist with relief.

From sport people in various disciplines, to those requiring mind and body assistance...of all ages and gender...I look fwd to your queries and being of assistance.

Frustrations and irritations. How little we realise the impact it has on our behaviour.
Emotional outbursts, impulsiveness, withdrawal, defensiveness, aggression and hostility, physical disabilities. .

Biological stress and distress.

Muscle tension.
Headaches.
The start of other chronic physical health issues eg. Blood pressure.
...just to name a few.

It ain't rocket science as to what triggers frustrations and irritations.
The problem is , living in a society that demands instant gratification, results as in yesterday, competition ever growing, the fear of missing out ...makes one take ones eye of the ball, that which is truly important.
Setting goals that in reality are unattainable. Not because one cannot BUT, because one wants to fly before crawling.
Expectations not met...again because one did not apply due diligence and do ones feasibility studies.

Reality may be cruel in certain aspects. But, preparation and the goals set and choices made without rose tinted glasses makes it that much less cruel and ones goals more attainable.

And when the going gets tough and it seems you can no more , that is when I and, my peers in the therapy industry step in and guide you back to the path of achievable success as well as deal with those debilitating physical manifestations that make you slow down.

The word "perfect" - in essence , doe not exist.
Rather subjective than absolute.
...and therefore, I always aim for and, speak about the optimal realization at any point and time.

Making things achievable rather than a pipe dream.

On this fine Sunday a small reminder of the following :-

"...accept your present without resistance, believe fiercely in your worth, set an achievable goal and embrace THAT journey with active effort."

It is about putting yourself in the optimal mental state to build the life YOU want.

Be careful of runaway aspirations. Losing yourself in daydreaming, traits energy sapping , playing to a fickle "all knowing" society , bending your core principles to suit the masses.

There is a thing such as the authentic self. May not suit the public at large but, remember....YOU have to live with YOURSELF .

And when one asks why would that make any difference in one's life.

Lets address one important aspect in ones life...even the most intimate bedroom affairs are affected by mind and body wellness or, lack thereof.

Looking fwd to healthy discussions and working toward optimum physical wellness as well as embodying the desired outcome through a mindset mindful.

Many of us have heard about the "hot and cold " treatment after an intense workout or participation in a sporting event.

How does it work?

It is all about the constriction and dilation of blood vessels.
The desensitisation of nerve endings looking for pain relief.
The delivery of much required oxygen and nutrients through increased bloodflow.

Getting rid of buildup eg. lactic acid and other "waste" .

Like any body recovery therapy, after a sporting event, make sure there are no underlying circulatory issues or other medica conditions that could be impacted by the alternating of hot and cold.

And like most therapies, it's accompanied by other requirements to assist with faster healing such as eating correctly, hydrating sufficiently AND enough downtime followed by light activities without straining the muscles .

It was an awesome weekend in Caoe Town.

The Sanlam marathon was electrifying, the energy high

Congratulations to all participants.

I am in CT for another week before heading back to Jhb and look fwd to being your therapist when it comes to mind and body challenges.
