I was being sarcastic, because this is what England fans always do: they put in one or two decent performances and the fans and english media* especially become convinced that they are going to win the whole thing.

Do you know how many stories there were about english fans getting "World cup winners 2018" tattoos in 2018 when they made the semis?

Even in the rugby in 2019, after they beat the All blacks in the semi's, English fans were pretty convinced that all they had to do was show up for the final and the trophy was theirs.

I'm not saying you shouldn't be happy with a good win, but Jake above is already talking about winning the final. I don't even dislike this team, and they could well go far (even possibly win it), I'm just saying its a long way to go yet so don't get ahead of yourself.

(*P.s. after the media has built up the team beyond all reasonable expectations, they then absolutely shred them when they fail to live up to those unreasonable expectations. Its no wonder English teams across all sports routinely crack under pressure)
