Its been 13 days since Vidals post. That time of the year is when suicides percentage go up enormously and its got nothing to do with leaving ur family behind etc. Its more a case of the lack of having any family.
Its a very lonely time for alot of people out there.

Its been 13 days since Vidals post.

Vidal if u stil with us please send me a pm

What a thread... got my heart racing and took me back to just over a year ago when i was going through a similar "crossroads" in my life. And then it gets derailed by selfish squabbles and the loss of focus probably prompted the poster not to rwturn to his obvious cry for help.

If you do read this @vidal, then you're welcome to PM me and ill share my contact details with you (this goes for anyone else too). The worst thing is to be in your in your head right now. Surround yourself with even just one person you trust and you can talk to.

For the rest of you school-kids, keep your playground antics just there where it belongs... some of you really need to do some serious introspection in 2023.

It's a dark place to be in ! I've been trying to get out of a hole working 18 hour days for the last few years and still can't put food on the table reliably . People say it's not that bad , really how the hell do they know ? The day I drive down a particular road and turn left instead of right it's time ! Peace

Too much stigma around depression and suicidal thoughts that people shy away or embarrassed to talk about it.

There's nothing to be embarrassed about, we all have our moments of highs and lows. Also everyone's capacity is different, just bcz one might be able to handle a certain level of stress doesn't mean the next person can. Be kind and greet people when walking pass by. That simple hello and smile could make their day.

There always been a stigma around gents and depression. That old saying " Cowboys don't cry". What a bunch of crap.
I tried to commit suicide last year because I didn't know how to cope and handle everything that was going on in my life.

I stopped halfway through because I couldn't bear leaving my kids without a father.

I ended up admitting myself in to a psychiatric hospital. Daily chats with a psychologist, doing the programmes and activities designed to assist, learning coping mechanisms. This was an eye opener for me. I realised that I am not alone in this and my problems pale in comparison to what I saw in there.

I still take my meds, I still go to the group sessions when I'm feeling down. I have owned my problems and am not shy or scared to tell people what happened to me hoping that my experience might in some small way enlighten or help them a bit. The whole episode I feel has made me a better person and I'd like to think a better father.

Vidal, if you are still around please feel free to reach out, I am more than happy to have a chat.

Sometimes those in their darkest moments feel they being spoken at... instead of listened to.

A fine line between giving advise and preaching and no...no referral to any of the excellent care and compassion shown on this thread but, rather an observation working with and being exposed to that part of the wellness space.
