"....Who are you trying to impress? Better yet, why?"

- Frank Sonnenberg.

Once you can answer that truthfully then begins the road to self realisation.

A thought to ponder

How often does one think of spiritual fatigue? Even understand what is.
Mind and body wellness a little easier to grasp and understand. A little more tangible...easier to address.

And then spiritual wellness.

What is it?
How does one define it?
Some will put it down to religious beliefs and practices and some will say it is more than religion, belief, practise and ...faith.

Spirituality , so much and some more ... not defined by society and its demands, society and its fickle values, judgement and criticism.

Yet, all of the above has its influences and one cannot but look in on the Jones's and Khumalo's, the Al-Sharifs, Khan's and Patel's... and wonder how could one have got it so wrong.

Being year end much may seem purposeless, those high expectations not reached, relationships on the verge of collapse...a fatigued numbing and thinking ..."not again".
Thinking... " how much more".

Feeling lonely and unseen , even with many people around one.

It is that time of year when looking in on others makes one feel as if something is missing in ones life.
The emotional drain.
Hope wavering.
A negative emotional and energy shift.

This is the time of year where reaching out, sharing, being kind to self is paramount.

This is the time of year to remind yourself you are not alone and that your struggle is not unique and that much in the world too, has changed and made aspirations and goals that much more difficult to achieve or reach.

This is the time of year to not be shy, you are not weak, to seek the company of good people and, there are many MANY good people .

It should be a common throughout the year BUT , this time of year , even more so calls for humanness, humaneness among all.

And to be less of a critic toward self and realise, being human is layer upon layer of struggles and rewards.

YOU are not targeted. It is just that ones lot is unique to self and to embrace it , no matter how painful, and look for that solution IS the way fwd and within reach.

CONQUER.

A thought to ponder and why the possible conflict between the physical and the self.

And why even if in company you can still feel alone and lonely.

"...You don't have a soul. You are a soul. You have a body."

Attributed to CS Lewis.

The duality in one's life.

To Seek the company of those that are your sort of people, cut from the same cloth...don't be shy to be real / authentic.

It is not a weakness.

It is a strength.

...charity begins at home.

Be kind to yourself.

SELF REALISATION.

"...They're certainly entitled to think that, and they're entitled to full respect for their opinions... but before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience."

-Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

Do not be swayed by or, bow to the fickleness of society.

When one does that , playing to please the crowd, then one begins to lose sight of self and the very core of who one is , feels unsettled, unsure and uncertain.

One cannot always make the right decision.
But what one can do is be honest in one's dealing with self and others....even if that honesty may be a hard pill to swallow.

What it does is create steadfast boundaries that give focus and gives meaning to the word priorities.

In one's life....some ARE more equal that others and it starts with getting to know YOUR self.

PRIORITIES.

A little journey to consider ....quotes that make you ponder and think a little deeper.
It is not about beating oneself down or being ones worst critic, it is, about realizing the power that lays within one and how to harness it.

"No amount of self-improvement can repair a fragmented ego." --- Unknown

"The mind is a wonderful servant but a terrible master." --- David Foster Wallace

"The most terrifying thing is to accept oneself completely." --- Carl Jung

"When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you." --- Lao Tzu

May your self empowerment be an ever growing journey....it never stops for, one never ceases to experience and learn.

GROWTH.

"...I'm different. I will give you my treasure chest of darkness first. If you can handle that, then I'll bring out my shining moons. If one cannot handle the darkness, then one should not deserve the light. I have no interest in "trapping" anyone into a silken web. I have no silken web."

- C. JoyBell C.

There is dark and there is light. And when one understands that, then begins a journey new.

RESILIENCE.

Something I read ...

"...Certainly the most destructive vice if you like, that a person can have. More than pride, which is supposedly the number one of the cardinal sins - is self pity. Self pity is the worst possible emotion anyone can have. And the most destructive. It is, to slightly paraphrase what Wilde said about hatred, and I think actually hatred's a subset of self pity and not the other way around - ' It destroys everything around it, except itself '.

Self pity will destroy relationships, it'll destroy anything that's good, it will fulfill all the prophecies it makes and leave only itself. And it's so simple to imagine that one is hard done by, and that things are unfair, and that one is underappreciated, and that if only one had had a chance at this, only one had had a chance at that, things would have gone better, you would be happier if only this, that one is unlucky. All those things. And some of them may well even be true. But, to pity oneself as a result of them is to do oneself an enormous disservice.

I think it's one of things we find unattractive about the american culture, a culture which I find mostly, extremely attractive, and I like americans and I love being in america. But, just occasionally there will be some example of the absolutely ravening self pity that they are capable of, and you see it in their talk shows. It's an appalling spectacle, and it's so self destructive. I almost once wanted to publish a self help book saying 'How To Be Happy by Stephen Fry : Guaranteed success'. And people buy this huge book and it's all blank pages, and the first page would just say - ' Stop Feeling Sorry For Yourself - And you will be happy '. Use the rest of the book to write down your interesting thoughts and drawings, and that's what the book would be, and it would be true. And it sounds like 'Oh that's so simple', because it's not simple to stop feeling sorry for yourself, it's bloody hard. Because we do feel sorry for ourselves, it's what Genesis is all about."

Quotes that caught my attention and worthy of a ponder:

Vision without execution is just hallucination.

Know the difference between enjoying your youth and destroying your future.

Be kind to your parents, it's their first time living too.

If the path before you is clear, you're probably on somebody else's.

Some things have to be felt to be understood.

A mistake that makes you humble is better than an achievement that makes you arrogant.

A man who lacks purpose distracts himself with pleasure.

Do not disturb yourself by imagining your whole life at once.

Imagine reading a book with mo way to turn back the page. Hoe carefully would you read it?
That is life.

Success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure.

Maybe God made animals unable to 'talk' to show that love is proven through actions, not words.

.........remember......

Nothing kills you faster than your own mind. Don't stress over things that are out of your control.

Life moves in chapters, but it never announces the start.
