They are a bunch of scammers claiming to so called cops or captains...I had the Same call last week, but wen I asked them which police station they didn't knw the name....

The only way they can get it is through an app like true caller. I doubt they are sophisticated enough or willing to.put the extra effort to use other methods. The other way would be to access enatis.

Get a punter sim or cell. There are a lot of ways to pick up information, not just True Caller. If you type your cell number in inverted commas, into Google Search you can pick up other information sometimes.
Using my own number as an example.
"079 371 3158" or "0793713158" and also without commas 0793714158.

Once they have your name, they can also do a FB search.

Although we know it's a scam, rather protect yourself and safe guard your personal information.

Hi guys headsup they using a new number. true caller gives the name Maqueen violet haha. Inbox me for number

I had a similar thing happen. Got a call from a supposed policeman from Randburg SAPS 071 733 3783. Some lady had laid a complaint....

As discussed with a SAPS Captain last week, there are 70 million people in SA, give or take, and a police force of 190 000, so it should be common sense that they are scams ... unless you are actually guilty of the alleged offence ...
