Pay particular attention to the last sentence...scary stuff! The state of disaster was for control purposes and not for a health emergency. No reporting to parliament, no oversight just a bunch of regulations that could be extended by the COGTA minister ad infinitum.

I definitely don't want any government to have that power over me again. Object to these new bull shot health regulations or else we will be in the same situation again.

Haha, and uh, this is supposed to be a bad thing? You wouldn't want someone with measles or TB to be compelled by the state to self-isolate?

And dude, there were playful bits to my other post but I was hoping for a serious response (the one where I linked to the proposed amendments).

I would also still like to hear what everyone moaning about this wants as an alternative (assuming everything you posted is accurate)? Should there be no penalty for those who *refuse* to self-isolate, (which seems to be the bulk of what the OP was about)?

But again (like I said before) even if you didn't have a choice, you probably shouldn't be contrasting the fact that you were an obidient little footsoldier for an evil regime with a generation that stands up for itself as though being 'disciplined', obedient and taking orders is a good thing. Especially when looking at where those orders came from.

But in short, the crimes/atrocities of one side don't justify a regime that is by definition a crime against humanity.

And let's not pretend that Apartheid was a response to those things rather than the other way around.

For most(& by most,I mean me),the best prescription to deal with conscription in the early 80's was a visit to Eldos,Bosmont or Hillbrow with 2x half-jack VO Bertrams and 10x R5 notes.
