Loneliness is a derivative of a whole bunch of feelings/emotions.
The obvious so called answers would be to get outside, exercise, etc etc
I've been there!! Edit: I, myself, love different types of exercises...

My take on it (based on my journey) is to start doing Shadow Work, write down WHY you do what do, and i mean everything...then question yourSelf, ie, WHY, exactly are you doing whatever it is, ok.
Before you know it, you might find an incredibly intricate, sensitive and soulful person, within, which may have been hiding...
I'm INFJ, extremely introverted. So, I know that social settings won't necessarily do the trick...not at all.

Question yourSelf, perhaps?
All the best, hey...

Hugsies,
Love

I've always discouraged punting over a spouse. Find your person, live your life

Yes bud, you are not wrong, but it's rather complicated if you have an 80% wife. A distinction in anybody's book, but if the missing 20% is the closeness, the intimacy and the sex, then the math gets utterly fucked

I hear you. Communication is sometimes ignored and that's why most gents are here. After 50, I think that's when the loneliness creeps in

What if loneliness is meant for us. It's luck of the draw some are lucky to have stable partners who together are great be it male or female others have or stay in relationships which are mentally exhausting or mental abuse or even physical. Rather just go with the flow and make careful calculated decisions along the way

This sort of intense debilitating loneliness I do not think has anything to do with good or bad partnerships, the amount of friends had or even family members draining or supportive.

This sort of desperate plea to understand if the OP is DOOMED to eternal loneliness, in my opinion, is not simply fixed by company new or habits new...yes , would definitely be a reprieve but, I do hope the OP does get some professional help if the post was a cry for help.

Yes, I think RB is right. We use the same word to describe the unwanted situation. But everyone has his/her own and often unique experience

I agree with RB and Cunnilinkiss.

Loneliness can't simply be fixed with company, or socializing.

The concept of loneliness is more complex and stems possibly from a deep seated core belief.

Core beliefs are the root cause of many self limiting behaviours and are often subconscious attempts to self preservation.

In a situation where one believes one is destined for loneliness, one needs introspective insight (which can be provided by an individual qualified to identify destructive core beliefs) because often, when we are feeling lack (lonely) we lose the ability to identify the real cause.

To the OP, chin up. You are far too real for this superficial world, this is why you suffer.

I have to agree with kinkKK and RB, some people will do anything as long as they are not alone regardless of the abuse and unfortunately in most cases only realise it way to late in the relationship to stop or get out.

I do think finding yourself plays a big role in being happy with someone for life. Whether it be a life changing event or even taking the time to realise what means most to you.

I for one have been married and been in toxic relationships the works and have found serenity in being alone as its not just the person you end up being with but its all of their issues and drama you have to be ready to deal with and work through.

All relationships take work it boils down to are you ready to put in the work and be happy with the end result.
