It's a reverse of the sprinkler theory:

You have a hose and put one sprinkler on it and you have 100% pressure on it. Add a second and they each have 50% add a 3rd etc. And that's how it goes.

Now you take the power grid that is supposed to run at 50 to 60%. You loose one power station and that puts the load onto the balance. Now the next one fails and the load gets worse on the balance and so on.

So besides corruption, cable theft, diesel theft etc. You have a problem

They are predicting stage 6 ongoing and then stage 7 from July and Eskom want us to pay a 32% increase this year. Why do they not first and foremost recover all the money owed by all the users in the country that have outstanding bills which runs into billions and disconnect all the illegal connections first before wanting to charge the people that actually do pay for electricity a 32% increase. We are now going to pay a 32% increase to have 10 hours plus of load shedding per day.Ted Bloem commented that only 10% of electricity consumers in the country pay for electricity and 90% of users do not pay for electricity. Go Figure

Watch Monday/Tuesday. That will be the first real working day with all businesses running 100%....
Next week will probably be stage 8 or higher....

And of course logically, the more load shedding you have the less revenue Eskom receives, the less revenue Eskom receives the less funds they have for maintenance and repairs so this is a downward spiral that cannot be reversed.

Don't just blame Eskom, SAPS, Hawks, NPA, DPE and many others are all part of the problem.

Cable Theft, Diesel Theft, sub standard coal, sabotage is a bigger problem than the maintenance issue, and while it continues nothing Eskom do will stop loadshedding.

Crime and Corruption, introduce is what is causing this country to go from a once powerhouse in Africa, to become the joke of the continent.

Wait, there is more.
The ANC is thinking to buy votes by writing off Soweto's Eskom debt.
If Soweto refused to pay up to now, you think they will start paying once debt forgiveness starts? LoL!
Somebody will have to pay for that forgiveness. So electricity prices will have to rise even more for those who are paying. That will cause even more paying customers to leave, making the upward price spiral even worse.

PS: i read somewhere that writing off Soweto's Eskom debt could have paid for 3phases of loadshedding, using diesel, everyday, for the next five years!

In addition to this, every month more people using alternate solutions, including solar, so Eskom paying client base will be contributing less and less, and this will contribute to the revenue loss at Eskom, meaning less money for maintenance (i.e. maintaining the lifestyle of the fat cats.).

SOWETO eskom debt is sitting at over 12 billion.
They have made appeals to parliament to write off the debt.
So this will increase the burden on paying clients.

Like you say - a downward spiral, for sure.

Load shedding here to stay, effecting business productivity.....

We had more than 200 days of load shedding in 2022, and it will continue up until 2027 (minimum) or beyond.

Best advice, buy more batteries.

Stop being so morbid you guys. I know load shedding is a pain but its not going anywhere. Lets make the most of it.

Kill time and have a punt for two hours. Seize the opportunity! Lol ;-)
