And no, I don't celebrate Diwali - but the biased attitude is pretty blatant.

Doesn't matter what the reason or the season the animals are always affected. So I will always be against it.

If it is a organised event in a controlled environment that will not affect the animals then by all means but this was not the case last night.

Funny there was almost no fireworks for Diwali where I stay, but last night it sounded like Kiev in Ukraine.

But all the Karens are tjoepstil.

Same in my area, the karens and kens were out in full force on our community forum before diwali, but were silent yesterday.

Pardon my ignorance can someone enlighten me as to what or who Karen's are?

As I am completely lost and oblivious.

Just look in the mirror and you will see one staring back at you :)

A definite NO to fireworks! Our furry friends take major strain, not to mention the vet bills afterwards.

I think fireworks are great and well regulated seeing as we know exactly the dates and times they will be used.

I think pets are great too having many dogs and cats over the years and some don't mind at all and some get the skriks.

The owners of pets though are a different story. If you own pets that don't mind and want to hang around the fireworks, then you gotta make sure they stay far enough away not to get hurt and if you have the type that scare, then you gotta make sure you take measures to calm them down, shield them from the noise, and keep them safe. The issues that arise are not from fireworks, it's from bad ownership and failure to keep your pets safe sorry.

At least fireworks are predictable and can be planned for unlike storms/thunder, gunshots, and cars backfiring etc that illicit the same reactions.

Having had lots pets all my life and been lighting fireworks all my life with no issues to my pets, I think they're both great and bring joy and happiness.

Fireworks are "fireworks" whether at an "organised public event", or by "Joe soap and his friends". Sound travels and it that is what causes the problems to animals. Their hearing are a lot more sensitive than ours.

Fireworks should be banned in its totality.

Except when its in your ice cream at Spur or when Disney world lights it or when First world countries like the USA, UK or Australia use them.

Whats the take on hunting and killing animals for sport with rifles?
