Not allowing advertisers to start a thread in general discussion really undermines the whole idea of a forum.
Instead of punishing everyone- yes everyone including punters who are genuinely interested in what the ladies have to say .

Surely the way forward would be to enforce any advertisers who transgress the rules ie post promo threads in general discussion.

Surely that's a better alternative than not allowing an important component of this site to have a voice.

Agree, it would be the better option.

The additional "effort" involved in policing the forum might have been the reason behind the "blanket" ban on SP starting threads in the general section.
