And I thought my 4% proposed increase was bad.

It was planned for April, but pushed back to July now for "financial reasons", so I'm concerned if I'm getting it at all considering our share price is gradually sliding and there are rumors of a takeover.

Its the same story everywhere....all employers are still sulking about covid situation crap. But they end up travelling in biz class and more frequently than pre-covid levels. We are being asked to go as a group by road and per km rates of the company have not been revised for 4 years. So we are actually barely covering fuel costs for work travel.

Even coffee in the office is restricted to cut costs, no rusks. No annual team building trips, no year end party(just a gift bag), no new recruitments to divide the work load. List can go on and on

Its pathetic.

_________
You right, the financial sector is the biggest "rent seekers", but it is not necessarily a good thing. Even Adam Smith (generally known as the father of modern economics and capitalism) warned in the 18th century that capitalism would fail if there was excessive rent seeking.

Reading this thread reminds me of this. A few people extracting more than they worth from the system and others (the masses) having to work 2 to 3 times as hard to make up for it. Maybe one could even call it a form of modern day slavery?

The blue bank was also known in the past for paying crazy bonuses even at the middle level.

You guys need to move jobs seriously. I was in the same situation and now I work for a company who looks after their people. The COVID card is long passed expiry. Those employers obviously don't value you. I got a promotion and over 10% increase. The people make the company not the other way around.then when you resign they want to come with offers.

Well said J_J

In the vast majority of cases, i doubt it is employers screwing employees. The SA economy is not growing - as per the official GDP.

Yet some people here see nothing wrong with taking big money for doing nothing. Obviously not to the advantage of the country at large and ultimately why the poor struggles even more than needed. But hey, they give a fuck.
