Oraljim is correct, he is not saying a negative review has no impact, but that you cannot prohibit those, and that on balance if you have a majority good reviews the impact isnt that severe and how you respond to such a review often determines the severity of the impact it has. I would go further and say that the distinction between experienced or non-experienced punters is not really an issue, how this works practically whether you are experienced or not is as follows - visually (we eat with our eyes first) the profile attracts you, then you try and get comfort that this is going to be a good punt from the write up and reviews. Now whether you are experienced or not if your little head (who already likes what it sees) gets confirmation from 10 good reviews vs 1 bad one, you are less likely to rely on that one bad review. Now what would elevate the severity of that bad review is if the lady comes out and shows a negative side of herself. My advice is, see every engagement on this forum as an opportunity to look good to punters and expand business.

1) He explicitly said "The only time you need to become worried if if you have a string of reviews ..." and "don't sweat the occasional bad review from a grumpy customer". That's not "you can't prevent it" it's very explicitly "you don't need to worry about it"

2) it's precisly this "on balance if you have a majority good reviews the impact isnt that severe..." that I've objected to, becasue the whole point is that Oj (and you) cannot possibly know how severe the impact is. (And just as a tip, as a general rule assuming your conclusion is true as premise of your argument is not a great way to prove the conclusion)

3) extrapolating from how *you* go about making selections is not a valid way to make generalisations about how every one does it.
