Just tip 10% to 15% depending on how good it was. Same applies to waiters etc I always budget 10% for tipping regardless of what type of service it is it's still a service

Gifts I find a precarious plank to walk down. As mentioned, I don't buy any other service provider I use a gift. Oh, thanks for the DSTV install, here is a bottle of wine and some chocolates. Gifts cut the fine line between a business transaction, and emotional exchange.
Even giving a tip I am becoming less prone to do. I had a regular that I would happily pay more than her asking rate. The difference between what I was prepared to pay, and her rate was her tip. When an SP is asking R 1700 for a service however, that is more than my view of worth, so I will potentiality pay it, but I am not adding a tip to that.

As much as i love gifts in general but it always comes with expectations. All those chocolates and gifting punters turned out to be big headaches due to expectations.

Id say rather say tip her for a good service and keep it professional.

Gifts are not asked for nor expected, it is known for coming from a person's heart and that is why people have different views and feelings about giving and even receivin it

Brought some with me - arrived only to be told she doesn't take sugar and definitely does not touch chocolates. I asked her to pass them on to colleagues or reception maybe. That was my first & last attempt at gifts.

@JDG she was just plain rude and an ungrateful little fucker, politeness has never killed anyone, gifts are to be accepted without remarks or comments even if you just gonna turn around and bin it, absolutely no need to make the giver feel bad

When you can barely afford to pay attention, the last think on the mind is a gift but yes I have done it a lot in the past ... times have however changed significantly.

I love my gifts.

I love my tips.

Always but, ALWAYS appreciated.

Of course everybody is different and does not change my perception of person nor standard of service offered.

What it does do is make me feel real good .
