Dear Sibyl

Agree with your view wholeheartedly and if I may this is my opinion on other people's view and or opinion of me:

"Care about what other people think and you will always be their prisoner." -- Lao Tzu

It is human nature to want to be liked and accepted. However, this often leads to people worrying too much about what others are thinking about them.

This kind of excessive worrying can have a negative effect on your life. It can be so debilitating that it interferes with your ability to feel at ease with yourself and around others.

Here are ten reasons in my opinion why you should not care about what others think:

1. It's Not Their Life, So It's None Of Their Business

2. They Don't Know What's Best For You

3. What's Right For Someone Else May Be Completely Wrong For You

4. It Will Keep You From Your Dreams

5. You're The One Stuck With The End Result

6. People's Thoughts Change On A Regular Basis

7. Life Is Simply Too Short

8. You Reap What You Sow

9. Others Don't Care As Much As You Think

10. The Hard Truth: It's Impossible To Please Everybody

You can make a conscious effort to stop giving a damn; to let yourself free. It's a skill that needs to be practiced, like meditating. But once you truly understand how to let go, you will see the world as entirely different.

Once you give up catering to other people's opinion and thoughts, you will find out who you truly are, and that freedom will be like taking a breath for the first time.

To breath is to be alive....free of the shackles of others opinions.
Some just know how SoS and others can be coaxed gently into understanding how.

Coaxed gently maybe an option....
Sometimes, and mostly in my opinion, it is better to be pushed firmly over the edge and to need to learn to swim for survival!!!

Some people dont take lightly to a "firm push" and thus drown.....
I opt for gentle persuasion....as they say "u can take a horse to water but, u Cannot make it drink."

I'm glad to see you are versed in the teachings of Lao Tzu. I discovered the Tao many years ago and it completely changed my life! It has given me immense peace and contentment and I try my best to live my life according to its teachings.

When a person returns my greeting with a simpering condescension, I have just enough self respect to never ever greet that person again.
Or indeed to acknowledge his /her existence.

I assume you are referring to the fact that it is seen as immoral for a woman to sell her body, but not seen as immoral for a man to pay her for the use of her body?

Of course it is hypocrisy, but throughout the ages, society has always condemned and looked down on those that they deem to be of "low class", because in their minds, only a person of low class will sell their body. These low class temptresses are immoral and are not deserving of any respect, as opposed to the affluent "buyer" who is "high class" and who is tempted and dragged into this world of debauchery against his will, kicking and screaming, by the "ladies of the night".

If you look at the caste system and even at society in democratic countries, you will always find that those who are of an "imagined" higher class, see themselves as morally pure and judge those who they deem to be of lower class, as immoral and undeserving of respect.

It is far easier to say "I was tempted and corrupted by that low class hooker, this it is not my fault", than to be truthful and admit that your morals are far from pure.

In my opinion one should be very careful to cast any stones in any direction whilst occupying a glass house....

Judging other is a dangerous game to be played by fools only in my experience
