I work for Eskom from home and still need to meet my daily expectations ( although it has reduced since lockdown ) but I would not have too much of an issue if they reduced our pay by 1/3 or in that region. No, I don't get a huge salary, but live according to my needs and have saved up the past few months.

I will no longer. Government has failed to take into account the other side of the coin. They talk about it theoretically with no real solutions.

Absolutely silly suggestion. You can't simultaneously stop public gatherings and then allow a large portion of people to go to work - that's like trying to lose weight whilst drowning yourself in McDonalds everyday.

On top of that, it would be practically impossible to regulate that all these people in close vicinity to one another would always be wearing masks and maintaining at least two metres distance from one another.

Social distancing remains the most effective way of preventing spread of this virus, and lockdown procedures are hefty but effective ways of enforcing social distancing. The countries that have managed to contain the disease are countries that enforced strict lockdown procedures. Meanwhile the countries that continue to be devastated (like the US) are countries that pursue your irresponsible line of thinking.

It won't. Containing this thing takes months, and all the researchers and policy makers know it. Telling people that they'll have to endure something like this for months isn't palatable, so it has to be revealed in bits and pieces as failsafes and other social security measures are put into place.
