This is true. A few years back I already decided to cut back on my punting due to ridiculous rates being requested. The amount of ladies I now see can be easily counted on my one hand and if I punt 4 times a year that is a lot. I used to punt about once a week.

For me this is actually broader than just punting.
I allow myself a fixed amount to spend on my Hobbies and entertainment (which includes punting). The last 5 years my annual budget for this remained the same - some years actually little less.

Used to play golf once a week at any course we liked. Now the amount I play is linked to course fees. One expensive course or few more affordable. Once a month I play our local club which is value for money and I stand a chance to go home with a toaster... :-)

Punting works the same with the only add on that it is now starting to impact my golf game....
