Embarrassing to ask - but hey we are all in this together right?

As of the last 6 months or so, quite suddenly, I just can't get it up anymore.

I'd understand if it was an age thing but I just turned 40 (is that old?). I'm in decent shape. Exercise. Eat well etc

So I'm not comfortable going to my family doctor as she is a family friend too. So I went to a random guy in my area who I never user.

He does some basic tests, blood pressure, and takes blood samples for pathology, he also calls in a favor with his buddy who is an endocrinologist to confirm what path tests to run. Nothing suspect comes up.

He prescribes cialis. Which btw works fantastically!

But I don't want this to be my life.
Its inconvenient
It might point to something more sinister
The pills might make things worse long term by switching off whatever part of my brain makes boner hormones

If bloods come up normal, then in theory it's non medical? Or it is something else medical but my B-Team doctor just doesn't know how to diagnose (him calling in a friend didn't fill me with confidence)

Who is the right guy to go to?
I can't be the first in the purple world to experience this.

Thanks guys for caring!

You got advice from a proffesional, and doubt it,
and want to confirm it from a sex forum.

Good thing there is help for ED, as here is no pills for stupidity.

I recommend going to see a urologist!

Google is your friend - otherwise DM me for the urologist I see (no freeloading).

@Kooni - rubbish. Not all medical professionals are equally good at their jobs, and there is a big difference between a GP and a specialist- He's not looking for a diagnosis on the forum, he's looking for a recommendation on who to see for a second / more specialized opinion, (which by the way is something medical professionals recommend you get all the time), and I'm not surprised since this doctor has helped with the symptoms but has so far not been able to pinpoint the cause of the issue. I'm not sure I would ask on the forum, but I would also definitely be looking for a second opinion.

@Xenon69 - You need to see a urologist. If you are in Joburg, dm me and I can recommend a good one.

At the age of 40 you realize you don't want mechanical interaction but prefer quality time and a connection with your partner.

Foreplay helps a lot. Remember the mind is the most powerful sexual organ we have. Nothing like a good mood setting to make you realize that it's all in the mind.

Reduce the intake of alcohol, drugs, stress and tension. Eat properly and excercise. Then you will fell a lot better.

Take it easy fellow punter....happens to everybody. A certain boredom sets in due to repetitive nature of the activity.

If you are really into punting, then book a lady that you have been eyeing for a while but did not book till now.

If not into punting too much, then go for a 2-3 night getaway with partner.

stay calm. Yoga also helps to concentrate

There are many psychological factors that can play a role in erectile dysfunction (ED). Here are some of the most common:

Performance anxiety: Anxiety about sexual performance, such as fear of not being able to get or maintain an erection, can cause stress and make it difficult to achieve or sustain an erection.

Depression: Depression can interfere with sexual desire and can make it difficult to get or maintain an erection.

Relationship problems: Relationship problems, such as communication issues, conflict, or a lack of intimacy, can cause stress and contribute to ED.

Stress: High levels of stress, either from work or personal issues, can interfere with sexual function.

Low self-esteem: Feelings of inadequacy or low self-esteem can cause anxiety and contribute to ED.

History of sexual abuse or trauma: A history of sexual abuse or trauma can have long-lasting effects on sexual function, including ED.

Substance abuse: Alcohol and drug use can interfere with sexual function, either by reducing desire or making it difficult to get or maintain an erection.

It's important to note that while psychological factors can contribute to ED, there may also be physical causes. If you are experiencing ED, it's important to talk to a healthcare provider to determine the underlying cause and develop an appropriate treatment plan.

Seeing as you already went to the doctor and they confirmed there's nothing physically causing it, perhaps it's something to do with what I mentioned above?

Rather go to an Urologist. If you need a recommendation in Joburg PM me.
