This realisation would be a false realisation. It may be that you did not find a connect between your visual expectations an emotional expectations, so you settled for second best, a movie (under the pretense that a movie is reality). Second best, will always only be, second best ...

Maybe also evaluate your expectations for engagement with real human beings. No movie could ever compare to a real engagement, even a bad one. Yes, movies are cheaper, but there is little experience you can gain from them. Even a bad punt will give you way more life experience than a movie.

Also (here's my extra 2c), days when I chose to "self-service" left me with some time and money to do something either social or productive like work on some side hustle projects or just invite friends over for a spontaneous dinner.
