I have sensitive skin, so shaving leads to uncomfortable rashes. Shaving is not an option for me.
I use a trimmer, which works very well. The result is as smooth as shaving without rashes. I may get nicked if I am not careful, but practice makes perfect.
I first bought a well known brand, but the P O S broke in a month. I bought the cheaper Chinese version with a fixed blade which I have been using for months -fantastic buy.
