This state of disaster is just a cover to bring in private power suppliers that's are connected to the political elite and to loot more money.

His days were numbered his white face walked into his office. He would have turned it around. He could have done it im sure. But i feel for him dearly and the bravery of the man to take on that position when i think deep down he knew he couldnt stand a hope in hell of having his say in most matters that mattered. Such a pity and so sad, now he has to leave the country which he probably loved because he will have to be looking over his shoulder each and every day. Sorry Andre you were the best thing that could have got us out of this horrid situation that we should never have been in the first placr. 20 years ago the writing was on the wall but nobody wanted to listen. THEY KNEW BEST. Crying imogi.

Lol no. He would have turned nothing around. He probably wanted to bring in his own brand of corruption but there were too many people with vested interests and in positions of power that pushed him out. It's difficult to change a behemoth like Eskom. As for corruption, having worked in a few large corporates I can tell you the biggest transgressors were white.

Setting him up to fail just like they did to De Ruyter, they know nobody can change Eskom, they just want to appear to be doing something and then pass the buck. Neither de ruyter ir the new guy they hired have the track record needed to be taking on the mammoth task of turning Eskom around.

I think any CEO will only succeed with political backing. And by that i mean corruption must be cleaned out, irrespective of whether stealing a can of oil or R100 million per month via a sophisticated syndicate.

That may be very hard. Hence the only option is to privatise. When people manage their own money, they look after it very carefully (not like when you look after taxpayers money). Even if we need to give the power stations away for free, it will still be better than having totally incompetent cadres manage it, who could not care less about taxpayers money.
