Collected my upgrade phone yesterday S23

The lady told me that best you insure it and get a good cover and screen protector

The replacement value is R 32k

Fuck for a device that makes and receives phone calls - that is crazy

That thing is worth more than my laptop that actually makes money.

Stuff the cover I am buying a baby safe and carry that around with me

Overpriced waste of money bro I decided not to renew my contract any longer. I'll be saving 1600 a month. I can get an ordinary phone that still has what's app and can rec calls. I am good. done with financing things thru the banks and signing contracts.

My contract is in the last month,
Have not upgraded, gonna use this device as long as it goes.
New contracts are just ridiculous priced and the device you want runs on 3 year contracts nowadays.

32k for a phone?? Bloody insane!

After years of always having the latest and greatest I made the decision 5 years ago to no longer renew my contract. Kinda pointless seeing that all devices slow down after 2-4 years, followed by lack of OS and app support, etc, anyway.

Bought mid-range phones for under 4k and switched to prepaid. I don't even miss the high-end stuff. Tons of money saved. Oh and my current phone is still going strong 3.5 years later.

32K is ridiculous for a phone that only has a lifespan of a few years and will eventually end up laying in a box with zero value.

With the newer devices not being a drastic improvement over the previous year's one, and after getting tired of spending astronomical amounts of money on the new phones, I switched to the iPhone SE line. Still has the new chipsets and many years of software support ahead and I have more money for punting.
