It may be (though likely 90% of the time not) that they reply "Hi" to be discreet. Should you not be expecting it or someone looks at your phone.
So "Hi" could be easier to explain away than a "Yes, I will suck you of without a condom.
But it also irks me when I am very super fucking clear I need these questions answered :
