Majority do take care and are regularly tested to ensure they are free of any STDs.
This is rarely the case in my experience.
A full spectrum STI pathogen test costs upwards of 2k.
Many SP's scramble to make rent money, uber money, food money, school fees money, cigarette/vape money, data money etc etc
They do not have the R2k for a regular and full spectrum STI test.
I've paid for a few tests myself for SP's for various reasons, and the results were revealing. Many STI's in a young 'healthy' SP show no symptoms. In the background, the bacteria is doing its damage which may only reveal years later when infertility problems arise.
Pay for your regular SP's full spectrum STI test (at least 13 pathogens) once in a while. You may be in for a surprise what is lurking undetected.

True, I keep seeing these comments by naive punters that WGs do regular screening, I think they get that off the internet. It might be the case in first world countries where sex work is legalized but its definitely not the case in third world countries like SA.
Firstly, I doubt that most WGs are educated about STDs, they know about HIV but tend to be pretty ignorant about other STDs or even naively assume that if its not HIV they need not worry. If they do check, its likely they will only test for HIV and probably only yearly if even that. To add to that there is not enough information accessible on testing. A full panel test will cost upward of 4K at an Ampath or Lancet. I believe its possible to get it done at lower cost at subsidized std clinics etc.??
Then there is PrEP which a lot of punters and WGs are treating like some miracle invincibility drug, sure it can reduce likelihood of contracting HIV but its not going to prevent you from get syphilis, chlamydia or Gonorrhea etc. What about the next super-virus like HIV? HIV popped out of nowhere and was killing people for decades before it was identified.
Then there are those punters who think they are extra clever and mix PrEP and doxycycline (doxypep) thinking that that will make them invincible, but this is creating an epidemic of drug resistant STDs.
