Computer geeks this morning I have to write a batch file to remove a file extension on 1TB of data files that was corrupted by a horrible virus. Does someone not have this code written already?

Obviously the machine will need a full re installation afterwards
Which I want to cry about since it is a high end production machine.

Any and all help will be appreciated

There is no backup and it is extremely sensitive legal data!
Also time sensitive.

Rather look online for a file renaming tool..

Incognito the problem is that I do not want to rename each file I need to replace the file extension.

Thanks to my fellow South Africans I lost an 8TB external drive last week during the power interruptions and then yesterday I was informed that the machine had a major virus. I am still waiting for the suppliers to replace the drive (big tears).

I also lost a 850 watt power supply and a UPS.

I am fed up with ESKOM.

Okay so from what I can gather here you have a folder with files and you want some way to go through all the files, and if the file type/extension is say .mp3 change that to say .mp4

Well ya that should be easy.

The virus added an xcbg extension to every file.

I will try it on a tester and see how things progress.

I can give you details of a company in midrand that recovers data. They have recently recovered 6 TB of data on an unresponsive/corrupted backup drive for me.
It costed around 15k for them to do it.

I can do a software data recovery myself and as I said I have the data just lost the backup.

I am familiar with the company in Midrand however my client doesn't have 15k for a recovery atm.
