Perhaps the body was never trying to lead you astray.
Perhaps it was only trying to lead you somewhere.
Before you called it temptation,
it was hunger.
Before you called it weakness,
it was wanting.
Before you called it indulgence,
it was pleasure.
We gave these things names that made them easier to fear.
And then spent generations teaching the flesh to apologize for speaking.
But sometimes I wonder---
what if the voice we were warned against
was never the enemy?
What if it was the part of you
that never learned to lie?
