We all know what is good or bad for us and try to avoid that energy seep, that one step forward and two steps back scenario.
But what happens when these heavy moments are unavoidable. A path of life one can no longer avoid.
That threat to earnings.
Expenses becoming unmanageable.
Relationships strained.
Feeling detached....near hopeless.
The same worries and concerns milling and milling in ones head.
Sleep deprivation.
It is funny that humans, when faced with adversity, tend to look inward, become uncommunicative.
Feel that sharing with their closest would lead to confrontation, blame, misunderstandings.
So much easier to carry the burden solo than going through extra irritations and having to explain oneself.
An age old problem...nothing new.
So.
What does one do?
Does one continue in the same vein until things get better?
Does one turn to strangers for solace?
Does one seek professional help?
One thing is for sure...DO NOT turn to social media platforms full of "guru" advice, reading YOUR situation into what they may be speaking about. It is like that gypsy palm reader.
When turning to friends DON'T seek those that will be "amen" buddies and paint you like a saint . Nor the ones that know not to listen and hear.
Sometimes it just takes a hug to make things feel lighter .
...and when it comes to strangers....we tend to share our pain, our challenge through our own eyes, omitting so much of importance .
...as to professional help. It does help to speak it out in a safe zone. The issue hear is to have the courage to do so without fear of judgement, those lightbulbs going off, the epiphany, leading to a lightening of spirit and soul.
Communication. How humans lack the ability to communicate.
And even worse, the ability to listen and hear.
And worst of all... the labeling of each other due to societal standards.
So how does one help oneself? So many don'ts , so many pitfalls. Is there hope?
Of course there is. It starts with self.
We are moulded and "manipulated " our whole life.
Aspirations, dreams, wants and needs take on the form of what one is exposed to.
The self , the true self much simpler, begins to fade.
Values and standards dictated to by a fast paced, ever changing world.
Nobody stops to think about the impact on ones own life.
Like sheep to slaughter.
Individualism need not mean living like an island.
I see it as knowing oneself, the peace found in taking accountability for self, growth, no fear of self expression , humble.
To question or play the devils advocate, is NOT being confrontational . It is the ability to see variances that lead to solutions and alternatives. It is thr mi d of a critical thinker, a solution finder.
In being able to take accountability for self, all of a sudden ones outlook changes as do relationships with others.
The solution isn't in having a steadfast answer to the uncontrollable challenges, as much as it is in understanding the place and time one may find oneself in and keeping it real , ones closest and dearest near and realise onenis not alone.
We look for a quick fix for years and years of "self suppression"...pointing fingers outward, alienating many.
It is never too late to look inward and valiantly work on self without judgement or blame.
No.person was ever born perfect and that includes you and me and everybody else.
Love thyself comes with lots of responsibility and realness and an abundance of positivity and the ability to grow.
