Searching for the article, I noticed quite a lot of stuff happening in Randburg. Never thought to do an area scan before making a booking ...

And I like Randburg ...

Saw another report on this that confirms it had nothing to do with rates and taxes but related to hijacked houses from which criminal activities are run. A house in Linden (didn't advertise here, but the ladies did) was also raided last year. The person has been hijacking houses for ages. Eventually she gets raided and kicked out, moves on to the next house and repeats. She must be targeting desperate landlords that are struggling to get their properties rented (which explains the run down state of that house) and not using estate agents to vet prospective tenants.

One of my regulars once told me the property they were working at once got raided by a cop who had booked there before. I guess he wanted his money back. During the raid a punter was there and the house lady gave the punter a tool box so he can pretend he was there to do some work and they let him go. The house lady then negotiated and paid the cop and his buddyz.

Lol. So, since this happened, is it safe to punt in Randburg or should we just avoid? Can anyone confirm?

Randburg used to be my old stomping ground before the pandemic. Great variety and prices.

Lol this happens more often than you think. The Asian ladies are extorted on a weekly basis by cops who book them then talk of deportation. Randburg, Sandton and Midrand seem to be the hotspots.

I think a lot of this is just early electioneering. Just a lot of noise before elections then things revert back to normal business. I had a meeting near one of the houses that was raided last week and when I drove past things seemed to be back to business as usual. However I do think venues need to be more discerning and discreet how they operate to avoid prying eyes. Things like maintaining the venue and not letting it get run down, keep noise, parties down, make sure there is no unnecessary loitering around etc. those kind of things raise alarm with neighbours and community WhatsApp groups etc. also sometimes these police raids are instigated by rival venues who have cops in their pockets.
