definitely wasn't specifically referencing an esa punter or any one specific occasion, but like i said i dont think this is a punter's problem as much as it is a social one. it is, like the gentleman before you said, entitlement - feeling as if what you want is more important than the next person does. and this CAN happen before money is even exchanged.

your points were very true though. keeping a good relationship with neighbours, having some sort of security, or working with another definitely does greatly reduce the likelihood of reoccurrence. and your empathy in handling the subject matter is well appreciated.
