I mean, in normal circumstances, people pay to go on these holidays and they don't make any money while away on the holiday and people work hard to have those breaks away in the bush beforehand to save money for that holiday. To answer Sky's question: you have to mix things up and keep your alibis fresh. Routine can get you caught.

Think of an alibi that works every week or month.
For me it's most often beers with the guys, or just me time which includes a long drive.

I am known to enjoy my drives.

Location make a difference though. When I was working close to to decent wgs, my punting was far more frequent. That's why I rarely punt more than 15 or 20 minutes out of my way, or closer if possible. Driving back from a punt far away or getting stuck in traffic is not fun and puts a damper on the experience, for me.

How to find time

Firstly befriend a fellow punter (someone you meet at the social) and exchange messages etc via whats app, this establishes a reliable alibi
Secondly take up golf, buy a cheap set of clubs and start by going to the driving range, then move to a full course, you don't actually have to play you can go and drink there every so often.
Then when you find a lady you like, look for the nearest golf club, say she is in Centurion you have 3 clubs to choose from.
Get your buddy (alibi) to message you asking you if you want to play golf at said course, you say yes, doesn't matter if partner reads message as its innocent
You now have 4-5 hours available on said day and at said time, even go before or after punt to course for a drink, maybe send a pic on you status, for all to see

The whole drive and preparing and traffic is basically the really pain points which accumulate to the time needed.

Great advise on the golf suggestion. Next purchase is a golf club set. I better practice hitting the ball though. Imagine ending up at a golf resort on holiday and can't hit the ball for the life of me with all the golf I said I was playing lol

Excellant advice Jake, being a golfer myself makes this very easy ;)

Since lock down, working from home is still an option for me.

When at home I look for SPs on the JHB side (not much luck here), when at the office I look for SPs on the PTA side (luck galore here), mainly Centurion.

I reconcile data for high level reporting, which requires 1 to take a much needed rest break, hence I am able to get away for an hour or two per day, which is quite flexible, i.e. I can take this time off whenever I want to, unless I have a day full of never ending meetings.

My divorce changed everything ....
Plenty of time for fun
