It has become apparent that many people have difficulty in constructing a sentence. Even though I have a standard reply for the "Hi's", I can't help to feel somewhat offended and disrespected that the person could not even bother to type a full sentence. What is it with those messages? Laziness? Pray, tell please.

They were on Mxit too long :D

Is it too much effort to add the into mre? Mre mre sounds more sunny than mre mre. Maybe they don't know how to add the special characters on the letters so they leave them out

In my experience there tends to be three kinds of chatters.

Those who will send a greeting, an inquiry as to how you are and possibly a third query. All this in one message.

Those who will do the same as above, but each sentence will be a new message.

And... Those who start a message with just hi. In my experience, for them the conversation doesn't really start until you have replied to it. It's not so much a conversation opener, as a check to see if the other person is currently available.

Even though I'm personally not a fan of it either, I wouldn't take it personally or feel offended, but that's just me.

Also @Lesley, assuming you put an O with a circumflex in your sentence, the forum doesn't display it, at least not on my screen.

Lets test it:
Lower case o with circumflex -
Lower case o with acute -
Lower case o with grave -
Lower case o with umlaut -
