Nobody got this virus from eating an animal. It is effectively airborne. It jumped species by someone being in proximity with the animal in question.

Something similar happened with ebola. It resides in bats in a semi-dormant state. The bats eat fruit and some of their saliva stays on what is left of the fruit. An animal like a pig (or even a human) eats what is left of the fruit and comes in contact with the bat saliva. And they get infected.

Its more about the lack of hygiene in these live / wet markets that enables spread of disease. Chinese are also known to consume animals raw which means the virus doesn't get killed therefore higher chance of contracting a disease from animals. Fortunately doesn't happen with dogs so WHO let the dogs out

Pork, Beef, Prawns, Snails... The list is endless. Where does one draw the line and what gives such a person authority to dictate what IS and what ISN'T edible? I think the Chinese just got unlucky this time...

Problem is that some of the things eaten there are protected animals and not legal to eat where they come from, whether it is ok to eat them or not is a seperate thing.

That's why I let my frog legs soak in milk overnight and make sure they are well cooked. Creamy garlic sauce is a must with it.

Now please note, this is just one of many perspectives out there. It is not fake news and not meant to promote a certaim view. Purely sharing it out of interest. I can believe whatever I want about this virus and the economic fallout of the preventative measures implemented around the globe..but..I still respect the rule of law and the safety of others.

Why do people always believe things which is contrary to evidence without checking the facts first. Sorry but the ER doctors are wrong. Yes, it may not be fake news but it is misleading. I've, using the same word as you, nuked this ER docs on twitter with studies and evidence.

Firstly, you can't go in the middle of a pandemic take a number and extrapolate it to a population and claim evidence. That is not how it works, you always will be wrong.

Secondly, off course the models are wrong, it is a pandemic. No model will ever predict accurately what is going to happen in a pandemic.Every single infectious disease epidemiologist (the people doing the models) will tell you that. And Fauci said it is well. As all diseases, it behaves differently in every country.But, it gives you something to work with as more data in your country becomes available, you adjust your model and your model becomes more accurately and so it continues until you have an accurate model and don't need to adjust it anymore.

Thirdly, The 2 ER peeps main argument is that the mortality rate is 0.1% which equates to the flu mortality rate. Now, lets see if they are right. Currently we only have 3 months of covid19 deaths in america where the flu deaths are spread all over the year, so certain calcs we can't do at the moment. One calc we can do is the average deaths per day. In america, the average deaths a day related to the flu & Pneumonia (in america they combine these two and not all pneumonia deaths are flu related) is 153 deaths per day. For covid 19 with the first death recorded on 29 Feb, the average deaths per day until present are 972 death/day and it is still increasing as as america records constantly more than a 1000 deaths per day at the moment. This makes it the third leading cause of death in America behind cancer and heart disease. Thus, covid19 deaths does not equate to flu deaths. But let us not just stop there, as you will tell me that a lot of probable covid19 deaths and people who have never been tested positive has been added. So, let us move to the CDC covid 19 numbers. The only numbers the CDC is releasing is definite confirmed covid19 deaths. From 1 Feb 2020 till 18 Feb 2020 the recorded 25000 confirmed covid19 deaths. Please note this umber will not be the same the numbers obtained from hospitals as you hear from health ministers and trackers as the CDC numbers comes after an autopsy has been done to confirm the cause of death. During that same time, only 4800 deaths was recorded due to the flu. Again, covid19 deaths does not equate to flu deaths. Again, the ER doctors are talking BS. This corona is far worse that the flu.

Lastly, I must add this, as it seems people don't understand the reason for lockdowns and neither does the 2 ER doctors. The reason for lockdowns is to slow the spread of covid19 to so that you health care system is not overwhelmed by severely ill covid19 people that requires hospitalization. You will not stop covid19 spread with lockdowns and neither will you stop people of dying of covid19 with lockdowns. The lives you safe are those people who had a heart attack, stroke, car accident etc. Because if your health care system is overwhelmed, these people will not be able to be assisted by doctors to safe their lives and thus people who would have lived, now dies. That is the lives you safe if you can suppress the spread of covid19. Covid19 has shown it has the ability to overwhelm healthcare systems in USA, UK, Italy, France, Spain, Wuhan (china) etc. Currently research coming from Italy and France showed that lockdowns has suppressed the spread of covid19 by 53% and 85% respectively. So, yes, lockdowns work. Aus and Nz daily numebers is always evidence that lockdowns work.

I can go on and on and on. Currently, and you guys will not like it, our governments approach is correct, maybe a bit too strict on some regualtions, hopefully it can be sorted out soon.

@ssurfer. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post and I am in agreement with your conclusion regarding government's approach to lockdown measures, as painful as it may be.
