How much are these tests?

I see a few girls requesting to do tests prior to an appointment and it made me very curious.

Where do they get them from?
How much are these tests?
Can anyone get them?
How accurate is it?
How fast do they get results?

Test are free at public hospital,or between R1000 and R1400 at private labs

Test will only be done once there are symptoms thats confirmed by a Dr.

Results take about 24 to 48hr.

Hmm,so how do they do the test and punt straight away if it takes so long for results and if it's so expensive how does a R1,500 session cover that cost for the wg? Eish, this stupid thing is boggling my mind. Someone selling fake tests cheap maybe?

Are you talking about the Covid 19 Kit? Not much available on the market. JACK MA has sent some kits to Africa via Adis.

Medical aids covers the cost of the test. If it is negative, then it comes out of your 'savings'. At least, that is how my medical aid works.

You can't just rock up somewhere and ask to be tested.

You need a referral from a doctor.

Also, don't just rock up at the doctors's office. You need to call in advance and tell them. They have protocols in place for suspected infections. They will give you instructions.

An acquaintance of mine was tested on Tuesday last week. He only got his results on Saturday evening.

A family member was tested yesterday and they told him he'll have results by tomorrow, but we'll have to see...
